2020 Photos of the Year
I read something the other day referring to how bad the year 2020 had been. The post said, “If 2020 was bad wait until 2021 and the decade turns a legal age”. Okay, I know it was trying to be funny, but 2020 was a tough year for all of us. I have a lot to be thankful for like a great family, a challenging job with outstanding students, and I can still make storytelling photographs. This year’s collection of images is different than others. On of my photography hero’s is Susan Sontag, a photography writer, and critic, who once wrote,” To collect photographs is to collect the world.” I believe that images have power, and they may be the strongest of all communication elements. As a wise mentor once told me, “just be quiet and let your photographs speak for you.” I am being quiet and hoping 2021 is too.
